Types of watersports covered:
Watersports insurance through Insure4Sport can cover a wide range of activities, including:
Kitesurfing
As kitesurfing relies on the wind to propel you across the water on a board, it’s possible to reach speeds of 20mph or more. Kitesurfing insurance through Insure4Sport can help financially protect you and your equipment in the event of an accident.
Water skiing
Whether you’re new to water skiing or skilled at one of its several variations (such as barefoot, jump, slalom or trick skiing), water skiing insurance through Insure4Sport can help guard you from several financial risks so you can focus on the adrenaline rush.
Whitewater rafting
A popular activity for adventurous holiday-goers, riding on an inflatable boat through rapids can be thrilling, but can also pose dangers to those taking part. With whitewater rafting insurance through Insure4Sport, you have the reassurance that you're helped to be financially protected should something go wrong while out on the raft.
Wing foiling
Wing foiling is a unique sport that combines kitesurfing with windsurfing, using a board with a hydrofoil and a wing. This equipment can be expensive, but having wing foiling insurance can help cover the costs for a repair or replacement should an accident occur.
Water polo
As a physically demanding sport that requires you to engage your whole body, playing water polo comes with a risk of injury to yourself or other players, which comes with financial risks. This is why you may want to consider getting specialist water polo insurance.
Wakeboarding
Being towed along on the back of a boat on a wakeboard is as exhilarating as it sounds, but it does come with risks. No matter how experienced you are at wakeboarding, injuries to your head, neck and shoulders can be common if you make a wrong move. Therefore, you may want to consider wakeboarding insurance for that added peace of mind.

Types of watersports insurance
Depending on the level of cover you want, there are three options available to you through Insure4Sport:
Watersports insurance (individuals): This level of cover includes Personal Accident, Public Liability, and Equipment Cover, and is designed for those who want cover as an individual participant in watersports.
Watersports instructor insurance: To be eligible for this level of cover, you must have the relevant coaching qualification from the appropriate governing body within your sport. Watersports instructor insurance policies offer the same cover included in an individual policy, with the addition of Professional Indemnity and Employers' Liability cover.
Watersports team insurance (for team sports only): If you are part of a team, such as a water polo team, you can extend your cover to include all team members.

Why consider specialist watersports insurance?
Whichever watersport you take part in, there are several risks involved which could leave you out of pocket should they occur.
However, having specialist watersports insurance in place through Insure4Sport may be able to mitigate the financial repercussions if something happens to you or your equipment. For example:
Watersports insurance through Insure4Sport may be able to cover some or all of the costs if:
- You suffer an injury while participating in watersports
- You cause an injury to a third party or their property during watersports
- Your watersports equipment is lost, stolen, or damaged
If you have watersports instructor insurance, you’re also covered if:
- A participant suffers an injury while under your instruction and decides to make a claim against you
- A member of your staff claims against you for injury or illness while employed by you

Does standard travel insurance cover watersports?
Standard travel insurance policies may cover some low-risk watersports activities such as swimming and snorkelling. However, high-risk watersports such as scuba diving or whitewater rafting may require a further add-on to your policy.
Even then, you may find that your travel insurance does not provide the same level of cover as specialist watersports insurance. For example, travel insurance policies may not include cover for:
- Loss of earnings
- Employers’ Liability
- Professional Indemnity
There may also be stricter limits on your policy, depending on the activity you want to be insured for. As an example, travel insurance policies may cover scuba diving up to 30m, but they may not cover deeper diving. A scuba diving insurance policy through Insure4Sport offers cover for scuba diving up to 40m, as long as you have the relevant experience and certification.
A sports insurance policy should not be used as a replacement for your travel insurance, but you do have the option to extend your policy to include Worldwide cover so that you and your equipment are protected while participating in your chosen sport abroad.
