Types of scuba diving insurance policies
If you choose to take out a scuba diving insurance policy through Insure4Sport, there are multiple cover options available.
Please note: It is a condition of this insurance that the maximum water depths, outlined in the Important Documents are observed.
- Scuba diving insurance: This option is designed for individual scuba divers looking for financial protection when diving for leisure, both in the UK and whilst abroad.
- Scuba diving instructor insurance: Scuba diving instructor insurance can offer the same level of cover offered in an individual scuba diving insurance policy, but can include Employers’ Liability and Public Liability with Professional Indemnity Cover, to help you and your business be financially protected.

What does scuba diving insurance cover?
Scuba diving insurance
Individual insurance
- Public Liability – up to £10m for accidental bodily injury to another person or damage to third-party property whilst scuba diving
- Personal Accident – up to £50k of cover for accidental injury or death, dental treatment, and more whilst scuba diving
- Loss of earnings – up to £750 per week for up to 52 weeks. An excess of 14 days applies
- Theft, loss and damage to scuba diving equipment
- Hospitalisation compensation – if you are admitted as an in-patient following a scuba diving incident for more than 24 hours
Scuba diving instructors insurance
- Professional Indemnity – up to £5m
- Employers’ Liability
- Public Liability – up to £10m for accidental bodily injury to another person or damage to third-party property
- Personal Accident – covers accidental injury or death, dental treatment, and more following a scuba diving accident
- Loss of earnings – up to £750 per week for up to 52 weeks. An excess of 14 days applies
- Theft, loss and damage to scuba diving equipment
- Hospitalisation compensation – if you are admitted as an in-patient for more than 24 hours
- Worldwide cover up to 180 days per year
- Any claims not arising from participating in scuba diving
- Any liability for damage to property belonging to you or in your care (excluding premises and other property you temporarily occupy for the purpose of scuba diving)
- Loss or theft of any equipment left unattended unless there is evidence of forced entry and/or exit to or from any premises, changing room, or any securely locked locker or similar places of storage
- Any claims for equipment without evidence of ownership
- Theft, loss or damage to mobile phones

Yes, for scuba diving with worldwide cover added on, you would be insured anywhere worldwide. Worldwide cover is restricted to no more than 6 months per year.

Adults (15 and over):
- Non-certified divers – 40feet (12meters)
- Dives 3 and 4 of Open Water Training – 60feet (18meters)
- Open Water Certified Divers – 60feet (18meters)
- Experienced Certified Divers, or Divers with Advanced/ Deep Training--130 feet (40meters)
Under 15’s:
- Aged 8 to 14 and/or Non-Certified – 12feet (4meters)
- Aged 10 to 11 and Certified – 40feet (12meters)
- Aged 12 to 14 and Certified – 60feet (18meters)
- Aged 12 to 14 with Advanced certification – 70feet (21meters)

Through Insure4Sport, cover is not available to anyone under the age of 8.
Instructors also have a participant age restriction of 8 years old, and are subject to the depth restrictions.
