Specialist sailing insurance for individuals, teams and instructors
Sailing can be an extremely enjoyable pastime, and competitive sailing is an exhilarating sport where you need to be at the top of your game to master the waves. Whether you’re sailing yourself or coaching the next generation of sailors, being out on the water comes with risks. You could injure yourself or another person, or damage your sailing equipment. For sailing instructors, there’s the risk that someone injures themselves when sailing under your guidance and brings a compensation claim against you.
Specialist sailing insurance through Insure4Sport is designed to give sailors, teams and instructors tailored cover when out on the water.

Sailing insurance: Specialist cover to suit individuals participating in sailing, and includes Personal Accident, Third-Party Liability and Sailing equipment cover.
Sailing team insurance: Cover for amateur sailing teams when training or competing in events. You can choose any of the available cover options from an individual policy to protect each member of your team.
Sailing instructor insurance: Sailing instructor policies include all the cover options available through a sailing insurance policy, with the addition of Professional Indemnity and Employers’ Liability cover. To be eligible for sailing instructor insurance, you must be qualified to teach to the level being instructed.
What does sailing insurance cover?
With insurance in place, you’ll have specialist cover when out sailing or instructing. Specialist sailing insurance through Insure4Sport can help cover some or all of the costs if:
- you suffer a serious injury or have an accident while out sailing
- any of your sailing equipment is accidentally damaged, lost or stolen
- you accidentally injure someone else or damage their property when sailing
If you choose a sailing instructor insurance policy through Insure4Sport, it can also help protect you if:
- you get injured sailing or when teaching a sailing lesson and it prevents you from working for a while
- one of your pupils gets injured when sailing under your guidance and brings a personal injury compensation claim
