Why consider specialist running insurance?
Running pushes your body to the limit, so whether you’re coaching, running with a group, or just by yourself, running insurance can protect you should something go wrong. For example:
Running or run club insurance through Insure4Sport can help you if:
- You get injured or cause an injury to someone else while running
- Your running equipment is lost, stolen or damaged
- You damage someone else’s property while running
Running coach insurance can also provide cover if:
- A client makes a claim against you for an injury sustained while following your coaching advice
- Another coach makes a claim against you for injury or illness while working for you
Do I need insurance to go running?
Running insurance is not a legal requirement, unless you’re in charge of a run club that employs coaches and other members of staff. In that case, you would be required to have at least Employers’ Liability insurance as a minimum.
Some running clubs may offer a basic level of Public Liability or Personal Accident cover to their members, but this may not provide the same level of cover as a specialist policy.
Some running event organisers may also include basic insurance as part of the event registration process. However, it’s always important to double-check what’s covered and what’s not with these packages, as well as any other requirements that may apply for running at certain venues.
