Why consider specialist rugby insurance?
Whether you're coaching a rugby session, playing for a team, or training on your own, rugby insurance can provide peace of mind should something go wrong. For example:
Rugby player insurance through Insure4Sport can help if:
- You get injured during a rugby match or training session
- You accidentally injure another player or damage property while playing
- Your rugby equipment is lost, stolen, or damaged
Rugby coach insurance can also cover you if:
- Someone you coach makes a claim against you after getting injured following your coaching advice
- An employee makes a claim against you for injury or illness while working for you
Do I need insurance to play rugby?
Rugby insurance is not a legal requirement to play rugby in the UK. However, you must have at least Employers’ Liability insurance if you run a rugby coaching business that employs staff.
Governing bodies, such as the RFU or RFL, may provide a basic level of Public Liability and Personal Accident cover for members, but this may not provide the same level of cover as a specialist policy.
Rules can also vary between venues, so it’s always important to double-check your requirements depending on where you’re playing or coaching. For example, some venues may require proof of your insurance before letting you work there.
