Types of outdoors and adventure sports covered:
Adventure sports insurance through Insure4Sport covers a range of outdoor activities, which can include:
Walking
When you’re exploring trails both in the UK and abroad, you may want to consider getting walking insurance. If you’re a walking guide, walking tour guide insurance may be the best option for you. Both types of insurance can help financially protect you and your clients from financial risks in the event of an accident while out on the trails.
Bushcraft
Practising bushcraft teaches you how to live off the land and respect the natural world around you. However, being out in the wilderness comes with its fair share of hazards, which may impact you financially. This is where bushcraft insurance may be able to help.
Mountain guide
As a mountain guide, you’ll be no stranger to the dangers that this activity can pose. Sharing your knowledge of mountain environments can be a rewarding experience, but if a member of your group becomes injured and decides to make a claim against you, it can be costly. That’s why you may want to consider mountain guide insurance.
Caving
Caving can be an exciting activity, whether you do it alone or in a group. However, traversing cave networks can be dangerous and may require expensive specialist equipment. Having caving insurance can help provide the reassurance that if something should go wrong while exploring the caves, you may be able to get some, or all of the costs covered following a successful claim.
Canyoning
Canyoning, also known as canyoneering, involves exploring canyons through abseiling, swimming, and scrambling. It’s a sport that blends elements of hiking, climbing, and water sports. Therefore, you may want to consider specialist caving insurance to help provide some financial protection against these risks.
Orienteering
While orienteering isn’t often considered a high-risk sport, navigating uneven terrain while trying to complete the course faster than your competitors can still result in an accident. Injuries to your feet and ankles can be common, which is why you may want to consider specialist orienteering insurance which includes Loss of Earnings cover, should you be unable to work.
And more...
You can also get cover for adventure sports such as:
- Rock climbing
- Mountaineering
- Ghyll Scrambling
- Gorge Walking
- Nordic Walking

Types of outdoors and adventure sports insurance
If you decide to take out an adventure sports insurance policy through Insure4Sport, there are three options to choose from depending on the level of cover you want:
- Individual adventure sports insurance: This policy is designed for individuals and players participating in adventure sports. It includes cover such as Personal Accident, Public Liability, and equipment cover.
- Adventure sports instructor insurance: If you’re an instructor, teacher or guide within adventure sports, this may be the cover best suited to you. It can include the same level of cover as a policy for individuals, with the addition of Employers’ Liability and Professional Indemnity cover. To be eligible for this policy option, you must have the relevant qualification from the appropriate governing body for the level you are coaching.
- Adventure sports team insurance: If you are part of an adventure sports team or group, this policy provides the option to extend your cover to include all team members.

Why consider specialist outdoors and adventure sports insurance?
Whichever adventure sport you choose to participate in, they all come with an element of risk. Having specialist outdoors and adventure sports insurance through Insure4Sport can help cover some or all of the costs if you suffer an injury, injure a third party, or damage their property while participating in adventure sports.
Outdoors and adventure sports instructor insurance can also help if a client suffers an injury while following your advice, or if a member of your staff suffers an injury or illness while employed by you, and they decide to make a claim.
Does standard travel insurance cover adventure sports?
Travel insurance policies do not usually cover adventure sports as standard, as they’re often counted as high-risk extreme sports. For example, your travel insurance may not cover:
- Bush Craft
- Caving
- Canyoning
- Orienteering
- Ghyll Scrambling
- Gorge Walking
- Nordic Walking
You may be able to get an add-on that will cover extreme sports, but there are some cover options which may not be included, such as:
- Loss of Earnings
- Employers’ Liability
- Professional Indemnity
Sports insurance should never replace your travel insurance, but you may want to consider getting adventure sports insurance through Insure4Sport in conjunction with your standard travel insurance to ensure you’re covered for all of the above, both abroad and in the UK.
-
The quickest way to get an estimation of what your policy could cost is to get an online quote today, as costs can vary depending on your chosen sport and level of cover.
