Why consider personal trainer insurance?

As a personal trainer or fitness trainer, you have a duty of care to your clients and others you may encounter as part of your job. Accidents and injuries can occur when training, both to yourself and your clients, which is why you may wish to consider specialist PT insurance.

Aside from that, many gyms and sports centres will likely require proof of your insurance before you can start working on the premises.

With specialist personal trainer insurance through Insure4Sport, you can worry less about that and focus on what’s really important to you—helping your clients achieve their fitness goals.

Do I need insurance to be a personal trainer?

There is no legal requirement to have insurance as a personal trainer unless you employ staff as part of your PT business.
If you employ staff, you are required by law to have Employers’ Liability Insurance as a minimum.

If you do not employ staff, you may still wish to consider investing in personal trainer insurance for peace of mind. Many gyms and sports centres may also ask to see proof of insurance before allowing you to work there.

Do I need personal trainer insurance to teach online?

If you’re unable to train clients in person, you can still get cover to train classes of up to 30 people in either live or pre-recorded online sessions through Insure4Sport.

However, your Public Liability insurance will only cover you during a face-to-face session or an online video session (such as via Skype) up to the insured limit you selected when taking out your policy.

Please note: If all your PT sessions are done online, and you never see or interact with your clients in person, you can not get personal training insurance through Insure4Sport.
