Does travel insurance cover rock climbing?

Travel insurance policies do not usually cover rock climbing as standard. This is because rock climbing tends to be classed as an extreme sport. While you may be able to include extreme sports cover (often called adventure travel insurance) in your travel policy as an optional add-on, you may find that this doesn’t cover:

  • Public Liability
  • Professional indemnity
  • Loss of earnings
  • Employers’ liability

If you want your policy to include any of the above, you may want to consider specialist rock climbing insurance through Insure4Sport.
