Why should I consider kayaking insurance?
When at the mercy of moving water, you learn to expect the unexpected. That’s why instructors and solo kayakers may want to take precautions to protect themselves financially against potentially costly compensation claims.
Kayaking insurance through Insure4Sport can help provide financial protection in the following situations:
- If someone were to injure themselves and hold you responsible, damage property such as another kayak, or hurt another kayaker. This would be covered by Public Liability insurance.
- If something happens to your equipment, having kayaking insurance can help to financially protect your equipment from loss, theft and damage with Equipment cover.
- If you were to suffer an injury and need physio treatment or be unable to work for a period of time, Personal Accident and Loss of Earnings cover may be able to help ensure you aren’t left out of pocket until you have a clean bill of health.

Although having kayaking insurance is not a legal requirement, you may find that some boating clubs require you to have it before using their facilities or applying for a membership. Some inland waterways may also require you to have Public Liability insurance as a minimum, so it’s always best to check this before hitting the water.

Whether your travel insurance covers kayaking will vary between insurance providers. You’ll likely find that your travel insurance only covers lower-risk kayaking activities such as kayaking in calm waters and not things like white-water kayaking, which can come with more risks.
If you want to take part in white-water kayaking or be covered for things like Loss of Earnings, you may want to consider getting specialist kayaking insurance with optional Worldwide cover.
Note: Kayaking insurance should not be used as a replacement for travel insurance.

The cost of a kayaking insurance policy will vary from person to person, depending on the type and level of cover you choose. To find out how much your cover could cost today, you can get a quick online quote.
