Who underwrites the insurance policy?
insure4sport is underwritten by Sportscover, one of the world's leading specialist sports and leisure insurers. Sportscover has its own specialist Lloyd's of London insurance syndicate, Sportscover Syndicate 3334 SCS. That means that you have first class security when you purchase an insure4sport policy.
I live outside of the UK can I purchase a policy from you?
No, we can only cover UK residents.
I sometimes teach overseas, can I include this?
Yes. We have four different territories you can choose from and unlike some other insurance policies we can cover USA and Canada. You must be a resident of the UK.
What does the insurance scope and sports category mean?
All sports are categorised dependent on risk A-D (A being the lowest). The higher the category your sport is the more you are covered for. You can see a full list of the sports and categories covered by clicking on page two of the example policy schedule.
Do I have to take out an annual policy?
Yes we only offer annual policies.
What is Sports Liability?
Sports Liability includes Public Liability and Professional Indemnity. Public Liability Insurance provides cover for claims made against you in respect of your legal liability to pay for personal injury and/or damage to premises you lease or rent. Professional Indemnity will provide cover for claims made against you arising from your legal liability for errors or mistakes in the advice or services you may provide or offer.
How much public liability insurance do I need to take out?
It depends where you need it for, some venues will insist on an ‘at least’ value.
Does the Professional Indemnity insurance cover online advice?
No, our indemnity insurance would cover face to face insurance only. We cannot cover online tuition or fitness videos.
What does the Personal Accident Insurance cover?
There are three different tiers you can choose from with differing levels of cover. Cover available includes death and disablement benefit, loss of limbs and sight, physio, hospitalisation compensation for broken bones and emergency dental.
I teach various classes one of the classes is not listed?
We are continually improving our offering, and therefore should be able to offer you the cover you require. If you can’t find the class on the list either use the search facility or email us at admin@insure4sport.com. Alternatively please call us on 0800 158 5530.
I am newly qualified, will this affect my premium?
No, as long as you hold a qualification recognised by the UK National Governing Body for the Sport coached or instructed as selected on your application.
I’m not a full time Fitness/Dance Class Instructor, I just do it in my spare time, do I still need insurance?
It is an unfortunate fact of life that accidents happen. And in some cases the injured party may wish to pursue a claim for compensation. Although you may not be specifically at fault you could be liable to pay costly legal fees and damages. In fact you may find that some organisations (schools and colleges particularly) insist that you have relevant qualifications, security checks and insurance cover before being allowed to train.
I don’t hold the recognised qualification, is there any way I can benefit from insurance cover?
Any person requiring insurance must be qualified to a minimum standard by a recognised body or have written approval from insure4sport that they can be covered.
As well as taking fitness classes I also coach different sports can I be covered on the same policy?
Absolutely, we categorise our sports dependent on risk (A-D) and you will be insured for all sports within that category and the lesser risk categories. A Fitness Class Instructor policy is category A so in addition to classes you can coach all sports within this category as well.
If as a Fitness Class instructor you also coached Lacrosse which is a category C sport you would need to select a coaches policy and choose Lacrosse, this would allow you to coach all sports with categories A, B & C. Important – you must have the relevant qualification to coach or teach.
What sports do you cover?
We have worked hard to ensure that the most popular participation sports and classes in the UK are covered under our scheme such as Aerobics, Boxercise, Spinning and Zumba, alongside some that you may not be so familiar with like Buggy Fit, Friskis and Svettis and Pole Fitness. Yes, if your home has passed the relevant health and safety checks and is suitable for the exercises you are teaching. If you want to take classes in your garden, providing you have enough space and you have completed a risk assessment each time this would be acceptable.
To instruct in an outside area e.g. a park, you are required to carry out a brief risk assessment each time e.g. checking the ground is in a suitable condition and ensuring there are no obstacles/items in the way.
Is there an any age restriction on this policy?

Is there any age restrictions placed on the people I work with?
No, as long as you have the relevant qualification we can insure you.
Can I take pre and post natal fitness classes?
Yes subject to the activity not being against medical advice.
What is the Fitness Class Instructor to participant ratio?
If the ratio is 1:6 there must be 1 instructor for every 6 participants. If there are 7 participants the instructor must have another person present to help out with the session. They do not need to be an instructor but they must be responsible to you.
I teach sport to less able bodied people do I need to declare this with you?
No, you do not need to declare this when taking out a policy.
Can I give nutritional advice?
