Most traumatic injuries occur because the rider is not wearing a helmet. Head injuries are common in BMX riders, so to protect yourself against a serious injury make sure you always wear a helmet.

Other common injuries that tend to occur while BMXing are broken bones, muscle strains, skull fractures, dental injuries and dislocated joints. The risk of all these happening to you can be minimised by covering all the skin and wearing the correct safety equipment.

Knee pads, elbow pads and eye protection can prove crucial in certain circumstances. You will be much less likely to suffer an injury by wearing this protective gear.
